Guest teacher: Valentyn Danovskyi. Valentyn is a professional sculptor who graduated from the Fine Art Academy in Ukraine in 2012. His artistic journey has led him to work with clay, marble, and granite, shaping the human form through both material and movement. Alongside his studio practice, he has taught students of all ages, sharing a deep respect for craftsmanship. His approach to drawing is rooted in a thoughtful study of human proportions and the discipline of close observation.
This 2-week course dedicated to the basics of portrait drawing.
Class 1 — An introduction to the fundamental proportions of the head and face, with a focus on understanding the basic anatomy of each facial feature.
Class 2 — An exploration of tonal values and form, learning how light and shadow work together to create depth and realism in drawing.
Materials needed: Sketchbook at least 9x12 or more, HB pencil, eraser.
Cancellation Policy
Students are responsible for attending the scheduled workshops and classes. Refunds are only available up to 5 days before the workshop or class. Partial refunds may be available in exceptional circumstances. Winter storms and cancellations: You will be offered a new date for the class or workshop and if it does not fit your schedule, you will be eligible for a refund.
